CMT Music 12 Pack Countdown Includes Unprecedented Level of Diversity

There’s no doubt that we’ve got a long way to go when it comes to inclusivity and equity within the country music industry. But for the first time ever, strides are being made. People are doing the work. Though it’s small now, a shift is happening.

The journey we’re on is a long one and in order to keep ourselves going, it’s important to acknowledge the wins along the way. One particular win that I noticed this week is the unprecedented level of diversity in CMT Music’s 12 Pack Countdown.

The CMT Music 12 Pack allows fans to vote for their 12 favorite videos each week. Videos with the most votes are aired on CMT Music, Fridays at 9/8C. This week the options include THIRTEEN Black acts/artists, which we’ve listed below.

A Look Back, Blanco & Tim

Last Sunday at the ACM awards Blanco Brown returned to the spotlight for the first time since being injured in a head on collision in August of 2020. He looked great and seemed to be in good spirits. It was quite a relief to see him up and walking after such an unfortunate accident.

We are so excited to see what’s next for Blanco Brown. In the meantime, here’s a look back at one of our favorite moments. Blanco Brown and Tim McGraw singing McGraw’s timeless hit, “Don’t Take The Girl.”

Blanco Brown

Blanco Brown is a ray of sunshine that got the whole country on their feet with his debut country single “The Git Up”. With over 200 million streams on Spotify, it’s clear that it’s a hit.

Though Brown had written and produced music for other artists  since 2015, it wasn’t until 2019 that he released his own album “Honeysuckle and Lightning Bugs.”

Brown’s latest release “Just The Way”, with Parmalee and featuring Bryce Vine was released in 2021 and quickly began making waves.
